Wedding Tag

Kim sent us a wedding tag a few weeks ago, hoping I think to get us to put something else on our blog. We are not really into this blogging thing. Anyway here goes, bare with me as I try to learn my way around this .

1. What date is your anniversary?

12th January ( 1974)

2. Where did you get married?

Durban chapel, South Africa. Brother Willson was the marriage officer. It was the hottest day in 20 years in Durban that day. I remember the perspiration running down my back in the chapel. No such thing as central air in our chapels in South Africa at that time.

3.Who proposed and how?

That's a good question ,when we think back to it we cannot remember any time that Richard actually proposed.I think we just took it for granted and spoke about our future together.I remember us driving out to the bluff for Dad to ask Gogo for my hand in marriage .We went and shopped for an engagement ring together but no actually on bended knee proposal.

4.How long were you engaged for ?

Crumbs I don't even remember the day .I think it was in the June and we got married in the January.I'm not very sentimental.

5.What was the favorite part of your wedding day?( besides who you were marry, hopefully)

Having all my family and friends celebrate this happy day with us. Weddings were a huge affair in South Africa in the church,we never had them very often so when they came around everyone was usually eager to have a good party.

6. What would you change if you could?

I would have had Heather be a bridesmaid or maid of honor.

7.Wedding Colors?

Peach and green.

8.Do you remember anything special from your ceremony? Any good advice? A comical note?

Not particularly,I know it was special and I will always remember the day,the heat was really memorable. The dinner served I know made some people sick.Curried chicken was one of the dishes served,my mother had had trouble keeping all the chickens frozen in her fridges. The Relief Society had helped cook all the curried chicken and really worked hard in the kitchen. Richard and I went off on our honeymoon ,of course with stars in our eyes,it was only when we came back a week later that we heard about how some people had got sick.

9. Were you clean or messy when you cut your wedding cake?

Clean,it was unheard of to smear cake in each others faces .

We had fruit cake ,anyway which would not have smeared very well. Each guest was given a peice of cake wrapped in cellophane paper. Traditionally if you were not already married you would put the cake under your pillow that night ,and it was believed that you would dream of who you would marry.

10.Where did you go on your honeymoon?

We went to HLUHLUWE game reserve.

11. How long have you been married now?

34yrs and 5mths 12 days.

A post every two months, don't over do it on the blogging. 34 years in a hell of a long time. It seems like just yesterday it was your 25th anniversary and we got you those robes. I was just thinking when we have a 50th party for you Jade will be 18 and I bet it will come before we know it.
