Long awaited bookshelves

We had our fireplace centered in the middle of the wall in our lounge when we built the house so that we could one day build bookcases on either side. Richard always thinks I am crazy when I suggest these projects because of course I expect him to do them with my help. He kept reminding me that he is not a carpenter but I insisted that he could do it if he just went step by step following a plan in my head.
Well he made a start on the right hand side ,did the cupboards underneath one Saterday and then I found this old TV cabinet in a secondhand store called Emilie Jayne in Salt Lake. I thought I was really clever because I thought we could hang it on the wall and that would save him building some of the shelves and would make each side different which is wahat I wanted. We much grunting and groaning we managed to get it up and hung it on the wall.At first it was too high and he was not too happy when I suggested that we lower it a little ,this meant ripping it off the wall again, not an easy task. He then built the cabinets underneath and we rested it on top of them and attached it to the wall.He built a little shelf on the top and walla there you have it. Not too shabby. Our son -in -law Jory much to my brother Malcolms disgust was ropped in to spray painting it for us. Malcolm has worked in a body shop all his working life and says it is a pain in the neck when people ask you to spray things for them.

I'm still trying to organize the shelves and put things on them, which of course will mean a few purchases. The cupboards underneath are going to be empty for a while because I'm not sure what to put in them. Perhaps some of my seasonal 'stuff'.
Richard is dreading the next time he hears me say" I've been thinking" Well really I think it has lightened the lounge up a whole lot .Well done Ricardo!
