York

We remembered York from our last trip in 1975 and really wanted to go back. This convent we stayed at is the oldest active nunnery in the world. We stayed in the cute little room on the top floor. The doors were so small we had to bend to get into the room. The bathroom was shared by guests ,not ideal but okay for one night.

The nunnery even had this quaint little elevator a more modern addition of course. It had a chair in it which was a little odd.Reminded me of the old elevators in South Africa ,when they had a gentlemen who sat on a stool operating it all day long. As if one needed someone else to push the button for you.
